The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
